I started my vacation album from earlier this summer. I have realized that the 2 paper packs I bought before we left ARE NOT going to be enough for all 550 photos that Bob and I took, between both cameras and our cell phones. Not even sure why I ever thought they would be. That said, I still want to keep the book somewhat cohesive in terms of color. Since I am not necessarily a "themey" scrapper, I had a few more options that I would have if I had just trieds to go out and buy a new paper line to match these two.
Supplies used: Patterned Papers-Crate Paper and Cosmo Cricket; Cardstock-Colorbok, Die Cuts-Carte Bella digital hybrid Kit; Veneer-Studio Calico; Chipboard and Brads-stash.
What I decided to do is search out a few digital hybrid embellishment packs. Since I have the new pixscan mat, I can pull embellishments onto a photo together, print them and cut them on my mat. If is a somewhat tedious solution, but I can not beat the results that I got from 1 embellishment pack.
Here is a look at one of my 2 8 x 10 pages of embellishments that I got from the pack. I learned by trial and error that I should only try to cut the embellishments that have a good contrast between them and the white. It makes the tracing part so much easier, and the results look so much better,
This is the pile of embellishments I got from this sheet. I have even more now, since my $2 digital embellishment pack had about 35 embellishments and I made at least one copy of each on 2 sheets of photo paper. I highly recommend photo paper. The colors are so much more vibrant that if you print on regular cardstock. Sticker paper will probably produce the same results. You can actually sent these photos to the local photo printer if you want to. The mat reads the photo paper just fine, so you wouldn't have to print from home unless you want to.
I have another embellishment pack from Carte Bella, and I got my favorite of the 2 Echo Park Getaway packs to go with the Echo Park paper collection I already purchased. I would say the I have enough embellishments to layer all my vacation pages! And if I run out, I can just print them out again and re-cut. Have I told you how much I love this mat!!!
How cool is that!
