Happy Mother's Day

Hope everyone had a great one.  I have had one of the best weekends in a while.  I spent Friday night cropping with friends.  I made this 12 x 12 shadow box using a Lori Whitlock cut file from the Silhouette store and some papers from Echo Park "For the Record."

I really like how this turned out.  It was pretty easy to put together as well.  I will be making a few more of these later on.  

My kiddo's did pretty good today too.  DD make me a canvas using an idea she saw on pinterest, and DS and DH got me scrappy and crochet stuff. DS thought enough about it to read the package, remember that I had been having hand pain when I crochet, and find some gloves that are supposeds to help with the pain.  

Ok, I am off to chase the puppy down.  He is really quiet, which is never a good sign with him.

A Quick Card and My Nested Die Storage

I had an extremely productive weekend.  Finished 2 layouts and this really cool binder to store my nested dies.  I got the idea from You Tube.  I wanted to use my cinch for a project, and I am really trying hard to use some stash.  I did both with this cute storage.

 

 

I did my inside pages a little differently from the lady on you tube in that I used both sides of the pages of my book.  I initially thought that magnet strips would attract to each other and make the book hard to open, but it is working out fine.  My sheets are 6 x 12 chipboard, covered with cardstock weight patterned paper and they are really sturdy, so it seems to be holding up just fine.

I also did a quick card for Sketches Creatively Yours.  I need to work on my bow tying, but I really like how this fall card came out.

Got a New Toy for My Birthday!

Today is my birthday and DH got me a new toy. I got a Cinch.  I counted up how much I was spending at Kinko's for binding and I could have paid for this Cinch twice with what I spent this past year.  Anywoo, here is my new toy.

 

And I got a chance to play with it.  Here is a little journal I made to jot notes in.  The inside has a place for a notepad and a pen.  I made the button attachment on the front as a closure and used Make the Cut to do the label, shadow and the welded title.  I love the font Lucinda's Handwriting.  It makes such a pretty weld.

  

 

And lastly, here is a card that went up Friday for the card sketch at Sketches Creatively Yours.  There are some great cards posted using the sketch.

New Sketch Reveal Layouts...Finally

The Five Year Afghan

Just before we made our first move (about 5 years ago), I started an afghan.  I bought all the yarn, got about half way done. Then we moved, the movers packed us out, and the afghan was packed away not to be found again until recently. Since I had made a sizable investment in yarn, I didn't want to throw it away even though I really hate working with acrylic now.  Sooo....

 

Here it is,  all finished up.  Five years later.  It is nice and warm, and durable since it is acrylic.  And I am kinda pleased with it.

For  this hop, I created 2 projects.  First, I did a heart shaped mini album.  I recently purchased an idea book on mini albums which had an idea for an accordian fold mini.  Keeping in the theme of valentine's day, I decided to weld 3 hearts from Plantin Schoolbook together to make this little mini.  To get 5 hearts across, I glued the inside 3rd heart in offset positions to make 5 hearts to decorate.  After the album was finished, I used the shadow function and a thin strip of extra paper to create a sleeve for my album.  All papers and embellies for this project are from an old Daisy D's Valentine line I had in my stash.

 

The inside pages include pics of my favorite three valentine's. 

 

 

I also colored a valentine card.  I want to give it to hubby, but the image is so cute.  I may give it to him, then ask for it back to scrap.  The image is one from Mo's Digital Pencil, markers are copic, paper is some old Love, Elsie Valentine line.

For the hop, I created a couple of treats for my kiddos for Valentine's day.  They both love chocolate and I made some quick covers for the treats.  These could easily be recreated for classroom valentines as well.  All cuts from the gypsy wanderings, plantin schoolbook and don juan cartridges.

 

For my hubby, I created this heart shaped box from Tags, Bags, boxes and more.  It will ultimately hold gummies which are his favorite treat.

A Scrappy Good Weekend

I got a call Friday night inviting me to scrap with friends on Saturday.  Since I had planned to do a few projects on Saturday anyway, it worked out fabulously.  I ended up getting four projects done this weekend.  WooHoo!  Two are for our Valentine themed Blog hop which will take place on February 12, 2011, so I won't be able to post those today.  The others I can share. 

Here is my challenge layout for the ABC scripture challenge.  This weeks word was Bible.  I used Psalms 119:11 as my scripture and included a picture of my Nook with the Bible loaded on it.  I love having the bible loaded on my Nook as it means that it is always with me.

 

I also colored this adorable image from Mo's digital pencil and made a card out of it.   I fell in love with the image when I saw it on Mo's store and then saw it colored on the SS2 thread at Cricut.com.  I must have been truly inspired by her card since I used the exact same colors she did.  Actually, I knew I was using this stack from DCWV and colored it to match the papers I took with me to work with, but it sure does work up well in denim and khaki green.  Thanks Cammi for the inspiration.
